Introduces youth to 4-H learning KickinNutrition.TV
Standing from left, Adrian Giron, Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Opelousas, receives a donation of 4-H Healthy Habits activity bags from SARDI's Kayla Fontenot on July 13, 2020.Baton Rouge, La. – Kayla Fontenot, Assistant Area Agent for Youth Development at the SU Ag Center’s Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development Institute (SARDI) presented 4-H Healthy Habits activity bags to the Boys and Girls Club of Opelousas on July 13. The activity bags contained the following items:
- Jump Ropes
- Water Bottles
- Spray Hand Sanitizer
- 4-H Activity Sheets
- Healthy Recipes
Fontenot also provided the organization with materials for the first lesson of KickinNutrition.TV ahead of the program’s debut via Zoom on July 16. KickinNutrition.TV is an innovative, digital 4-H program designed to educate, entertain, and empower children to make healthier food and lifestyle choices. The program also features engaging videos and interactive learning tools designed for urban, inner-city youth and their families. KickinNutrition.TV utilizes comedy, music, and engaging research-based, peer-to-peer nutrition instruction, and cooking demonstrations.
The bags and materials were received by Adrian Giron, Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Opelousas.
The Boys and Girls Club is a proud partner of SARDI, a satellite campus of the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center located in St. Landry Parish.
