Baton Rouge, La. – Dr. Andra Johnson, the Vice Chancellor for Research at the Southern
University Ag Center, recently served as a panelist during the 2019
Congressional Black Caucus' Annual Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C.
held September 11-15.
Dr. Johnson spoke on the role of HBCU's,
particularly 1890 Land-Grant Institutions conducting research, educating
students, and training stakeholders in the growing, processing and marketing of
Hemp/Cannabis, during the panel titled, "The Future of Cannabis-Hemp in
the United States."
The panel, which was held on September 12, was
hosted by Rep. Stacey Plaskett from the U.S. Virgin Islands and consisted of
industry and policy advocates for Hemp/Cannabis.
Three additional panels on marijuana policy
were also held during the conference.
