Louisiana's Expanded Mediciad Program Begins June 1

Baton Rouge, La. - Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards released the following message on the state's newly expanded Medicaid program on June 1, 2016.

It’s a great day to be a Louisianan!

Today, enrollment under our newly expanded Medicaid program begins, and more than 370,000 people will now have access to life-saving preventive care.

Today isn’t about just those who are gaining access to health care coverage though. It’s a step in the right direction for our state as a whole. Medicaid expansion will improve the health of our workforce, strengthen our economy, and improve Louisiana’s budget.
This is a win for all of us.
